St. Pete mayor officially selects Blake Investment Partners for Historic Gas Plant redevelopment

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch officially announced the team he’s selected to redevelop the Historic Gas Plant District — one of the most coveted pieces of dirt in the Southeastern United States.

Welch announced he chose The Burg Bid, the proposal from Blake Investment Partners led by St. Pete native Thompson Whitney Blake, to redevelop the 86-acre Historic Gas Plant site where Tropicana Field sits. Blake’s team, which includes the Related Group and hedge fund Elliott Investment Management, is the third developer to be selected for the Trop redevelopment in six years.
