Florida conveys 22 acres to Hillsborough College for Tampa Bay Rays stadium development

Florida will convey 22 acres of land intended for a new Tampa Bay Rays stadium and mixed-use development.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet voted Tuesday to give the acreage to Hillsborough College and to change deed restrictions on more than 70 acres the college owns to allow for a stadium and other development. The vote compounds the governor’s support of the Rays finding a home in Tampa and continues the Major League Baseball team’s momentum toward a deal.
