Iconic Clearwater pub O'Keefe's stays put after apartment proposal

A beloved Clearwater Irish pub is seemingly safe from demolition for apartments.

O’Keefe’s Tavern in downtown Clearwater at 1219 S. Fort Harrison Ave. was the site of a proposed affordable housing project from local developer Blue Sky Communities. The pub was slated to be razed to make way for a five-story, 82-unit apartment building, but restaurant ownership says the sale didn’t go through, and O’Keefe’s will remain where it’s been since 1961.
