A Publix-anchored shopping center in Lakeland, developed by the grocer’s founder, recently sold.

George Jenkins, the founder of Publix Super Markets, originally developed the property, which is known as Grove Park Shopping Center, as a model for a new type of shopping center. The 120,150-square-foot retail destination, at 1617 U.S. Highway 98, is fully leased and sold to a private entity linked to Daniel Halberstein. The price has not yet been recorded as of Tuesday afternoon, but the property last sold in 2022 for $28 million, according to Polk County records.
