USF's mixed-use redevelopment of The Claw gets state-level approval

The redevelopment of a defunct golf course on the University of South Florida's campus will break ground in 2026.

The Florida Board of Governors, which governs the State University System of Florida, on Thursday voted to approve the first phase of redeveloping The Claw. It will be known as the Fletcher district, and phase one will be 27 of The Claw's 138 acres. The first phase will include student and multifamily housing, restaurants, retail, a hotel and conference center, an academic research facility and recreation space.
