A national builder wants to raze a Pasco County golf course to make way for more than 600 homes.

Ryan Homes has a vision for the 1960-built Abbey Golf Course in the Pasco town of St. Leo. Plans were submitted to the town in August to rezone approximately 290 acres of the golf course and vacant land for the development of 440 single-family homes and 188 townhomes, according to documents obtained from the St. Leo township clerk.
