Redevelopment of South Tampa's Britton Plaza moves toward construction

The long-awaited redevelopment of South Tampa's Britton Plaza is one step closer to reality.

New York-based Brixmor, which acquired the shopping center in 2024, has filed plans for the redevelopment with the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The plans filed Tuesday describe the redevelopment of 85,000 square feet of retail space in the southern portion of the property that Brixmor representatives describe as its "lifestyle wing," from Burlington to Fuji Buffet and the empty storefront that was previously home to discount retailer Tuesday Morning.
