Miami developer plans apartments outside of downtown Sarasota

A Miami-based developer plans to build 274 apartment units on a long-vacant lot in Sarasota.

American Land Ventures filed plans with the Southwest Water Management District on Thursday for a five-story apartment complex called Fruitville Gateway. The development will sit on 3.14 acres at 2014 Fourth St. outside of Sarasota’s downtown. About 10% of the units will be reserved for affordable housing.
