Darryl Shaw plans waterfront soccer stadium in Ybor City

Ybor City developer Darryl Shaw plans to build a 15,000-seat soccer stadium on Ybor Harbor, the waterfront property once targeted for a Tampa Bay Rays stadium.

Shaw, who is a partner in the Tampa Bay Sun FC, said Tuesday that he is planning “one of the world’s first stadiums built for a women’s professional soccer team.” On Saturday, the Sun, which debuted in Tampa in 2024, won the USL Super League Championship. The team has been playing at Blake High School's riverfront stadium, which was always meant to be a temporary home.
