St. Pete plans to spend big on Tropicana Field renovations

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch is willing to spend millions on Tropicana Field's post-hurricane restoration with an expectation of being paid back later.

A damage assessment report submitted to the city this week determined that it will cost over $55 million to repair the Tampa Bay Rays' stadium after Hurricane Milton tore off its roof. In a statement, Welch said the city is willing to pick up the tab. City council still must approve the spending.
