The crane that slammed into a downtown St. Petersburg office building during Hurricane Milton has been removed.

Milton's 100 mph-plus winds sent the top part of the tower crane from the Residences at 400 Central condominium construction site into a nearby office building at 490 First Ave. S on Oct. 9. St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch warned of the possibility on Oct. 8. Workers used a separate portable crane on Oct. 23 to dislodge the crane from inside the building.
