Benderson Development buys iconic Winter Park mixed-use property

Benderson Development has acquired Park Plaza in Winter Park, a mixed-use property on the iconic Park Avenue.

Sarasota-based Benderson announced the acquisition on Wednesday. A deed for the transaction has not yet been filed in Orange County. The 25,000-square-foot Park Plaza includes street-level retail and a 28-key boutique hotel on the second floor.

Winter Park’s Park Avenue is a shopping and dining destination in Central Florida. It is home to more than 140 restaurants, shops and museums. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine, which has a location in Tampa and another coming soon in St. Petersburg, has a restaurant on Park Avenue.

“We are thrilled to add such a prominent Park Avenue property to the Benderson portfolio,” Evan Benderson, executive director of leasing, said in a statement. “We look forward to enhancing the Park Plaza experience and ensuring that it remains a beloved destination for years to come.”

Park Plaza is the second acquisition Benderson announced this week. The developer also closed on its purchase of Cypress Trace, a 280,000-square-foot grocery-anchored shopping center in Fort Myers. The company also recently announced acquisitions in Naples, Venice, Delray Beach and its hometown of Sarasota.
