Hillsborough County to consider limiting Live Local Act on certain sites

Hillsborough County commissioners are set to consider an ordinance that would limit the number of properties eligible for development under the Live Local Act.

The Live Local Act, which Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law in 2023, removes local restrictions and approval processes for developers who want to build affordable housing on properties zoned for commercial projects. On Aug. 8, commissioners will vote on an amendment to the county’s land development code that would make properties with a Planned Development zoning designation ineligible under the Live Local Act.
