Winn-Dixie in South Tampa's Hyde Park will convert to an Aldi

The Winn-Dixie store in Tampa's Hyde Park neighborhood will become an Aldi.

The German discount grocer, which earlier this year acquired Southeastern Grocers' Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket banners, has filed plans with the city to subdivide the 50,973-square-foot Winn-Dixie at 2100 W. Swann Ave. Roughly half the box, or 24,081 square feet, will become an Aldi, city building records show. Initial construction costs are pegged at $17.5 million.
