Homewood Suites in Clearwater sells to Massachusetts firm

A hotel on Ulmerton Road near St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport has changed hands.

Homewood Suites by Hilton St. Petersburg Clearwater sold for $14 million to an entity registered to Massachusetts-based Jamsan Hotel Management, according to a deed filed in Pinellas County. The seller was Philadelphia-based HHM Hotels.

The hotel, which has 112 keys and was built in 1997, last sold for $11.3 million in 2019.

Jamsan secured a $11.1 million mortgage to finance its $14 million acquisition, according to property records.

The hospitality company manages 7,200 hotel rooms and more than 300,000 square feet of commercial and retail space while also offering construction and consulting services, according to its website. Founded in 1994, it is one of the largest hotel management companies in New England.

This Homewood Suites is Jamsan's second hotel in Florida; it acquired Hyatt Place Lake Mary north of Orlando last year.

"We will continue to push to invest more into Florida as time goes and synergize our teams in Florida," VP of Development Ashok Patel said in a statement.

Jamsan plans to renovate the hotel, Patel said.
