Tampa-based Ellison Construction has been selected to build The Elliott, a new high-end private club coming to a historic building in downtown Tampa.

Construction on the club, located at 500 E. Kennedy Blvd., is expected to begin this summer. The Elliot will be in a building designed in 1921 by renowned Tampa architect M. Leo Elliot, who also designed Tampa City Hall, The Italian Club and The Cuban Club.

Jason and Courtney Kuhn of Kuhn Automotive Group, the developers for the project, plan to build a 40,000-square-foot club with multiple bars, a wellness center, rooftop garden terrace, jazz lounge, a cigar room and event space. The spa will feature steam and treatment rooms, a sauna and a cold room.

“Ellison Construction has a stellar track record and a long history of building some of Tampa Bay’s best-known and most iconic establishments, and we are confident that they will raise the bar to a new height with The Elliott,” the Kuhns said in a joint statement.

The Kuhns said they intend to preserve the building's history throughout the redevelopment. A permit application will soon be filed.

The Elliott is expected to open in 2026.
