RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Detwiler's Farm Market breaks ground on Palmetto distribution center The family-owned and operated grocer currently has six locations across Sarasota and Manatee counties. The center is being built at the Florida International Tradeport.
“This is something we’ve been working on for a long time,” Sam Detwiler, president of Detwiler’s Farm Market, said in a release. “Our goal is to be able to bring our prices down lower and continue to stay true to our ‘Eat Fresh for Less’ motto.”
The Florida International Tradeport is a 2 million-square-foot industrial park by Benderson Development. The property currently has 12 fully leased buildings and eight buildings under construction that are scheduled to be delivered this year. Detwiler’s is building a 133,000-square-foot facility at the site, which will serve as its main distribution center for its six brick-and-mortar stores.
The grocer was founded in 2002 as a roadside produce stand. It has since developed a loyal customer base and, in December 2023, opened its sixth location at 3500 53rd Ave. in Bradenton. This was the second location Detwiler’s opened in Manatee County.
Detwiler’s is known for its local produce, meat and seafood selection, deli, bakery, and natural grocery and wellness departments.
“We’re looking forward to all being under one roof in our new distribution center so we can serve our customers even better,” Detwiler’s Farm Market founder Henry Detwiler Sr. said in a release. |
