RETURN TO NEWS INDEX WestShore Plaza redevelopment is approved, mall to be demolished The Tampa City Council unanimously approved a redevelopment plan from Washington Prime Group at a recent meeting. The move comes nearly four years after plans to overhaul the mall were first announced.
The new mixed-use development will span the entire 52-acre property. Though the rest of the mall will be demolished, the Macy’s will remain.
The full project breakdown includes:
901,831 square feet of retail
380,000 square feet of professional office space
120,000 square feet of medical office space
1,765 multifamily residential units
A 256,000-square-foot hotel or motel
133,119 square feet of restaurant space
A 77,357-square-foot recreational facility
A Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority transfer bus station
The redevelopment project will likely be completed in phases,” a spokesperson for Washington Prime Group wrote in an email to the Tampa Bay Times. “There is no definitive timeline for construction as of yet.”
So far, no demolition permit has been filed. |
