An Avila mansion roughly the size of a Trader Joe's store is on the market for $5.9 million.

The 15,030-square-foot home at 16310 Millan De Avila was listed for sale on March 11. It is owned by Alan and Shirley Yaffe, who purchased the lot from the original developer of Avila for $471,700 in 1990, according to Hillsborough County property records. The home was built in 1997.

Valeria Yaffe of Coldwell Banker Realty is listing the home for sale.

Alan Yaffe co-founded coin dealership National Gold Exchange with his brother, Mark Yaffe. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2009; Mark Yaffe was sentenced to federal prison for bank fraud in 2015 and ordered to pay $3 million in restitution to the bank he defrauded.

Mark Yaffe's Avila home went into foreclosure after the bankruptcy and sold at a deep discount to Tampa Bay Buccaneers co-owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz and her husband, Joel. The Kassewitzes sold that home in 2022.

Alan Yaffe's Avila home sits on a 1.52-acre lot with direct access to the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The home has six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three partial bathrooms. An in-home movie theater with a "nostalgic ticket window area" is among the home's unique features.
