RETURN TO NEWS INDEX BayCare plans $548 million hospital in Manatee County Clearwater-based BayCare said it will build a hospital and 45,000-square-foot medical arts building in Robinson Gateway, a mixed-use development on Moccasin Wallow Road. The property is one mile north of the interchange of interstates 75 and 275. It will open with capacity for up to 207 beds and could expand beyond that in the future.
The campus will be BayCare’s 17th hospital across Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties.
It will offer “general, orthopedic and specialty surgery, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, diagnostic and interventional imaging, emergency care, obstetrics and neonatology” services, BayCare said.
Gresham Smith is the architect on the project, BayCare said. Construction will begin in October.
“At BayCare, our mission is to serve the community’s health and we are so excited to be deepening our commitment to the residents of Manatee County,” Stephanie Conners, president and CEO of BayCare, said in a statement. “As West Central Florida continues to grow and thrive, we are committed to investing in our communities to bring high-quality and compassionate care closer to our communities.”
Northern Manatee County has seen an explosion of residential development in recent years. National homebuilder Taylor Morrison recently bought 547 acres in Parrish, where it is planning 1,300 homes. |
