RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Valhalla Bakery building in St. Petersburg has sold The building, located at 2458 and 2462 Central Ave., features 2,458 square feet of retail on the ground floor and two studio apartments on the second floor. The sale closed on Jan. 17, according to a deed filed in Pinellas County. The buyer was Topflight Ventures LLC, which is linked to a private buyer in Matlacha.
Patrick and Chris Calhoon of the Calhoon Commercial Group with Smith & Associates Real Estate represented the seller. Brian Zucker of Keller Williams Commercial represented the buyer.
The building sits on a prime corner of Central Avenue. It lies across from the Ride’em Cowboy bar that recently replaced the Mixers at Old Key West Bar and Grill and is near the Salty Nun, Lost and Found and The Floribbean.
The retail space was once occupied by Nitally’s Thai-Mex Cuisine, which closed in 2018 after operating in the space for several years. The restaurant reopened on Ninth Street N.
Celine Beltgens, owner of Valhalla Bakery, announced on Instagram earlier this month that the bakery will relocate to its neighboring concept Valkyrie Donuts a few doors down at 2444 Central Ave. The move will take place after Feb. 14, according to the post.
“Taking this step has been a hard pill for all of us to swallow but it’s no secret that small business is struggling like we’ve never seen before,” Beltgens wrote. “Post-Covid supply issues, ingredients and packaging costs doubling, plus the economy wrecking everybody’s pocketbooks all play into this.”
The buyers have yet to name a replacement tenant for Valhalla’s former space. |
