Mayday Ice Cream to join Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops in downtown St. Pete

Mayday Handcrafted Ice Cream is joining The Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops in downtown St. Petersburg.

The storefront, located at 627 Central Ave., was recently renovated and will host its grand reopening on Feb. 12. The reopening celebration will last until Feb. 16. Mayday has locations throughout Florida, including stores in Tampa, Lakeland, Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine. This is the first location to join The Hyppo.

“To say we’re excited about this joint venture would be an extreme understatement,” The Hyppo owner Stephen DiMare said in a release. “We’re bringing together two delicious treats — popsicles and ice cream. If you love dynamic flavor combinations and dedication to fresh, seasonal ingredients, our ice cream is going to blow your socks off.”

Throughout the celebration, the store will offer 50% off the ice cream and pops menu and discounts on other merchandise. There will be a limited-edition special release flavor in honor of the occasion called Andalusia, a Spanish olive oil ice cream infused with rosemary and topped with flaky sea salt.

The storefront is on the 600 block of Central Avenue along with Bonu’ Taverna Italiana, The Lure and The Floridian.

“We like to take classic flavor combinations — sweet and savory — and bring them to the next level,” DiMare said in a release. “So instead of the standard mint chocolate chip, our sweet cream is infused with fresh mint and then stuffed with Andes chocolate mints, grasshopper cookies and chocolate chips. We have tons of fun creating unique and craveable flavors.”
