RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties to break ground on Largo townhome project The project, called Longlake Preserve, is located at 1756 S Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 20. The townhomes will be for those making at or below 80% of the area median income.
Habitat has partnered with St. Petersburg-based G2 Design, which is the architectural partner for Longlake Preserve.
"Our vision was to harmoniously blend cost-effective design and modern living," said Johanna Glinsboeckel, principle of G2 Design, in a release. "We've focused on fostering community while ensuring that lifestyle and affordability are not just maintained, but enhanced, which is pivotal for the success of this development."
To qualify for the townhomes, the residents must have completed the Habitat homeownership program, which includes more than 32 homebuyer education courses.
In November, Habitat secured $2 million from the county for the project. It also received $469,000 from the city of Largo and $884,600 from the state of Florida. Habitat is the owner of the property.
State Senator Ed Hooper and Representative Kim Berfield are scheduled to attend and speak at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The project is expected to be completed within 18-to-24 months, said Sean King, vice president of government relations at Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties. |
