A national developer plans to break ground on a built-to-rent community of luxury villas.

Thompson Thrift, which has offices across the U.S., said that construction will begin on The Hadley in November. The Hadley will have 268 units in one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. The community will span 25 acres at 3000 S. Sumter Blvd., near Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 41.

The Hadley is Thompson Thrift's third project in the North Port metro area and its 13th in Florida.

"North Port and the surrounding area added nearly 90,000 jobs during the past 10 years, which has really fueled housing demand," Josh Purvis, managing partner for Thompson Thrift Residential, said in a statement. "We are excited to bring a new luxury living rental option that will provide a single-family living feel with a full complement of multifamily amenities."

The Hadley property is adjacent to Heron Creek Towne Center, which is home to Walmart, Publix Super Markets Inc. and several other retailers. Amenities at The Hadley will include "a fully equipped 24-hour fitness center, resort-style swimming pool, community grilling areas, pickleball court, one dog park, pet spa with grooming station, billiards and shuffleboard, Starbucks coffee bar and 24-hour emergency service response," according to Thompson Thrift.

Thompson Thrift has developed more than $4 billion of ground-up development projects across the Midwest, Southeast and Southwest over the past 30 years.
