Author Glenn Cooper is selling his waterfront home in Sarasota for $6.95 million.

The 6,827-square-foot home at 749 Freeling Drive was built in 1997 and has undergone a two-year renovation.

Cooper is best known for his thriller trilogy “The Library of the Dead.” The home has been the meeting place for the “famous Liar’s Club, one of the longest continuously running groups for professional writers in the country, founded 70 years ago by John D. MacDonald and other luminaries,” according to the release.

The property is marketed exclusively by the Schemmel Soda Group of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Downtown Sarasota office.

“With over 1,000 square feet of outdoor space and a courtyard driveway accommodating up to 20 cars, this home is perfect for grand-scale entertaining,” Joel Schemmel, Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, said in the release.

The home features a great room and library that can house an extensive book collection. There is also a gallery, loft, secret staircase and multiple seating areas. It has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. The chef’s kitchen has modern luxury appliances, and the primary suite has two private balconies, separate bathrooms, and walk-in closets. There is also a guest wing with “ample room” for family and guests.

Outdoor amenities include a resurfaced lanai deck and driveway with stonework and pavers, a summer kitchen, a 10,000-pound boat lift, underwater lights and a kayak lift. The property also has a three-car garage.
