Clearwater hotel on U.S. 19 sells for $6 million

A Clearwater hotel has sold for $6 million to an Orlando investor.

The Rodeway Inn Clearwater-Largo, located at 16405 U.S. Highway 19 N, was built in 1982 and has 78 rooms, according to the property appraiser. The sale closed on November 2 and the seller was a private Clearwater-based investor.

Property amenities include an outdoor pool, sundeck and a picnic area. The sales price breaks down to approximately $73,170 per key.

The property last sold in August 2007 for $3.86 million, according to the property appraiser.

The hotel is three miles from the Cove Cay Golf Club and four miles from the St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport. The hotel is 10 miles from Clearwater Beach and is just over seven miles from downtown Clearwater.

It lies along an industrial stretch of U.S. 19 and is directly across from the Suncoast Business Solutions Goodwill on U.S. 19 and the Embassy Mobile Home Park. It is less than a mile from a Walmart Supercenter, Nissan of Clearwater and Mazda of Clearwater.

The area has recently seen several hotel projects either change hands or move forward.

In September, an entity tied to Maryland-based Baywood Hotels secured a $17.6 million construction loan to build a Hilton Home2 Suites hotel near St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Five miles away, the Bayside Inn Pinellas Park-Clearwater hotel sold in March for $8.25 million.
