RETURN TO NEWS INDEX NHL player sells Davis Islands home to widow, daughter of David Straz Keebler Straz and Catherine Lowry Straz paid $6.35 million for a home on Baltic Circle on Oct. 13, according to Hillsborough County property records. The sellers were Corey and Blakeny Perry, who paid $5.5 million for the home in 2021, property records show.
Corey Perry is a former Tampa Bay Lightning player who was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2023 off-season.
Allan Mezrah of Toni Everett Co. represented the Perrys. Toni Everett, founder of Toni Everett Co., represented the Straz family.
The sale appears to have been an off-market, all-cash transaction. The home is 5,160 square feet, and the purchase price breaks down to more than $1,230 per square foot.
David A. Straz Jr. amassed a net worth of hundreds of millions of dollars through a career in banking. He ran an unsuccessful bid for Tampa mayor in 2019 and died about six months after the election at the age of 77. Tampa's waterfront performing arts center was named in his honor after a major donation in 2009.
Keebler Straz serves as president and trustee of her father's foundation, and she is a 2023 Tampa Bay Business Journal 40 under 40 honoree. Catherine Lowry Straz is also a philanthropist; her name adorns the Catherine Lowry Straz Veterinary Hospital at ZooTampa.
Keebler Straz did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday. |
