Metal Supermarkets opens Clearwater location

Metal Supermarkets, a supplier of small-quantity metals, has opened a new location in Clearwater.

The store held its grand opening on Oct. 16 at 4501 Ulmerton Road. Metal Supermarkets has 12 locations in Florida and more than 115 brick-and-mortar stores across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Brian Thompson, owner and operator of the store, owns three other locations in the Tampa and Lakeland markets. There are 14 franchise locations currently under development.

“We have enjoyed working with Florida-based businesses with our three other Metal Supermarkets stores, and we are proud to now serve the small-quantity metal needs of thousands of more businesses across St. Petersburg and Clearwater with our exceptional customer experience,” Thompson said in a release.

The company sells metals ranging from aluminum and stainless steel to brass, bronze and copper. The Clearwater store will offer 8,000 types, shapes and grades of metal, according to a release. The metal can be cut to the customer’s specifications. The store will act as a supplier for local manufacturers, tool and repair shops, hospitals, homeowners and more in the region.
