Dallas developer opens Tampa office

Dallas-based Balfour Beatty is expanding its footprint in Tampa Bay to “deliver premier projects” along the Gulf Coast.

Its new Tampa office, located at 1000 N. Ashley Drive, Suite 505, will support Balfour Beatty’s business development strategy to grow its national footprint within key markets, including multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality and attractions, higher education and more. Scott Kimpel, project executive for Balfour Beatty, leads the Tampa Bay office, which opened earlier this year.

“The Tampa Bay area, as well as many other geographies in the state, is experiencing exponential development within key market sectors which Balfour Beatty specializes in,” Kimpel said in a release.

The Tampa Bay team is working with Related Group on the Manor West River Apartments — a 360-unit, eight-story apartment complex overlooking the Hillsborough River.

The group is also working on a 600-bed student housing project in Hyde Park, which will support The University of Tampa. Preconstruction services are underway for the project, and construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024.

The group recently completed a project for Adventure Island called Shaka-Laka Shores, an interactive splash and play experience.

Balfour Beatty was established in 1993. Its Tampa Bay team joins its other Florida operations in Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville. Balfour Beatty’s Florida operations are ranked No. 5 in the state by Engineering News-Record’s Top Contractors list.
