New York energy company signs office lease in Ybor City

An alternative energy supplier will open its first Florida brick-and-mortar location in Ybor City.

New Wave Energy, based in Buffalo, New York, has signed a lease for 4,160 square feet in Casa Gomez. Casa Gomez, a 20,012-square-foot mixed-use building under construction on East Eighth Avenue in Ybor, is owned by developer Darryl Shaw’s Casa Ybor.

Tom Mastrodonato with Mihara and Associates represented New Wave Energy. JLL’s Jim Moler and Lisa Coulter represented Shaw in the transaction.

New Wave offers energy products in deregulated markets across the U.S. It is among the largest energy companies in Buffalo, with 20 employees, according to Buffalo Business First, a sister news organization.

“With its mixed-use design and convenient location in the walkable historic district, Casa Gomez is a textbook example of the kind of development where employees will want to come back to the office,” Coulter said in a statement.

JLL also represents Shaw’s Casa Carbonell, which recently landed a lease with a law firm moving to Ybor City from downtown Tampa. In addition to the forthcoming Gas Worx district, Shaw owns dozens of properties in and around Ybor’s historic district.
