Gas Worx's $3 million Gold's Gym begins construction

Gold's Gym is under construction in Gas Worx.

The gym, which represents a $3 million investment, will transform the 25,000-square-foot warehouse at 802 N. 12th St., just south of Four Green Fields. Plans for the gym went public in April, and franchisee Kimberlee Curtis plans to open by year's end.

Stewart Construction is the general contractor. Purdy and Murdoff Architecture Inc. is the architect on the remodel. Belt Engineering, Executive Engineering Inc. and Electrical Power Designs are also part of the project team.

The Gym80, Matrix, Torque and Gronk Fitness equipment lines we will have, along with our top-notch amenities and experienced trainers, will ensure that our members have access to the best tools for their fitness journey."

Gas Worx is a multiphase, mixed-use district between historic Ybor City and downtown Tampa's Channel district. The first portion of the first phase, a 317-unit apartment complex with street-level retail, is under construction. The Gas Worx development team, Washington, D.C.-based Kettler and Ybor developer Darryl Shaw, this week filed plans with the city for the district's second phase, which includes apartments, office space, a market hall and street-level retail space.
