RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Datz and Dough in South Tampa sold to developer planning new concepts Restaurateurs Roger and Suzanne Perry sold the properties for $6.1 million and provided a mortgage for $3.1 million in a deal that closed Thursday, according to Hillsborough County property records.
The Datz property is 9,060 square feet; Dough is 3,255 square feet, according to property records.
Suzanne Perry was not immediately available for comment Thursday. Datz opened in South Tampa in 2009 and became known for its fried concoctions and over-the-top menu items. There are Datz locations in Riverview and St. Petersburg.
Datz and Dough will wind down their operations at some point in the next several weeks, said Tyler Hudson, a partner at Gardner Hudson Brewer PA in Tampa and the developers' legal representative.
The Datz building will remain a restaurant, Hudson said, and the Dough space will become home to a related concept — one that's not a dining concept but is related to the new restaurant planned for the Datz space. He declined to disclose the new concept or its operators.
"There are lots of families in the neighborhood, and they want it to be a neighborhood hangout," Hudson said of the developers' vision for the property.
Hudson on Monday filed a rezoning request with the city to change the official use of the Dough property from bakery to commercial recreational use. Rezoning requests require quasi-judicial public hearings before Tampa City Council, and Hudson said he expects the council to hold the hearing before the end of 2023. |
