RETURN TO NEWS INDEX Lokey Automotive Group acquires neighboring Rooms to Go showroom in Clearwater An entity linked to Paul Lokey, the owner of Lokey Automotive Group, purchased the nearly 28,000-square-foot building and surface parking lot for $7.15 million, according to a deed filed in Pinellas County. The sale closed on July 17.
A representative of Lokey Automotive Group could not be immediately reached for comment.
The Rooms to Go showroom at 27630 U.S. Highway 19 N sits on more than three acres and was built in 2000. The seller, Logan Clearwater Associates, purchased the property in July 1999 for $1.35 million, according to a Pinellas County deed.
Paul Lokey’s father, Earle Lokey, first opened Lokey Oldsmobile on Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater in 1952, according to the company's website. Lokey Motor Co. opened in 1959 on Gulf to Bay Boulevard and became the first Mercedes-Benz franchise in Florida in 1966. Paul Lokey and his brother Philip took over management in 1986.
Paul Lokey owns the Lokey Automotive Group and Phillip Lokey owns Lokey Motor Co., 19820 U.S. Highway 19 N, which specializes in Mercedes Benz and Infiniti new and pre-owned sales.
The Lokey Automotive Group has Lokey Nissan, Lokey Volkswagen and Lokey Kia — all located at 27758 U.S. Highway 19 N — and Subaru of Port Richey, 11613 U.S. 19. |
