Developer exits $100 million mixed-use project in St. Pete Beach

The developer of a $100-million mixed-use project in St. Pete Beach has pulled out of the deal.

City Manager Alex Rey told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that South Florida-based Ram Realty has withdrawn its application to develop Corey Landing, a mixed-use project that would have brought 243 residential units in a seven-story building with a parking garage, a 5,000-square-foot restaurant, a public park and 12,000 square feet of retail and commercial space to the end of Corey Avenue.

Rey said the “property owner is looking for someone else to step in their shoes,” but that the city had not received further updates. A representative for Ram Realty could not be immediately reached for comment.

Corey Landing received a string of approvals from the city commission in January 2022. It received final approval in March 2022.

The project was planned for an approximately 3.9-acre property in the city’s downtown redevelopment district. The project was to include a waterfront restaurant, a public boardwalk and eight transient boat slips.

The development was also to include a public park, turning an “unsightly portion of Corey Avenue into a vibrant public destination for the community with open space and enhanced access and utilization of the waterfront,” according to the application.

North Carolina-based Kimley-Horn and Memphis-based Looney Ricks Kiss Architects were also involved in the project.
