National real estate firm buys Tampa's Meridian Retail Group

SRS Real Estate Partners have acquired Tampa's Meridian Retail Group.

Dallas-based SRS already had a presence in Tampa; Meridian co-founders John Fahey and Tyler McRae will lead the Tampa office along with John Artope, SRS executive vice president and managing principal.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fahey told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that while he's been approached several times by national firms, a deal with SRS was the first one that felt right. He and his team have frequently worked with SRS brokers on opposite sides of deals.

SRS' exclusive focus on retail real estate made the acquisition appealing, Fahey said.

"We took a lot of pride in being a boutique firm in Tampa," Fahey said. "The timing and the fit just really made sense for a number of reasons. We’ve known the folks at SRS for decades."

McRae and Fahey were partners at Calusa Asset Partners before co-founding Meridian Retail Partners.

“SRS continues to invest in our business and expand throughout the country as we see accretive opportunities,” said Chris Maguire, SRS CEO and board chairman. “Given the tremendous growth and activity in the Tampa market, I’m excited to welcome this group to our dynamic Florida team.”

Grant Burt, Caroline Connelly and Jacob Rasnick will also join SRS from Meridian. They focus on tenant representation and retail leasing.
