Tampa Bay architecture group opens new design center

The American Institute of Architects Tampa Bay Chapter opened the new Center for Architecture and Design this week.

The center is home to the local chapter of the national organization and the organization’s Foundation for Architecture & Design.

AIA Tampa Bay purchased the building in 2021 and registered it as a historic structure with the city of Tampa. The 3,000-square-foot former warehouse building was built in 1904 and is part of West Tampa’s National Historic District three blocks south of Interstate 275.

“This facility not only provides a central hub for our members and professionals in the field, but it also serves as a valuable resource for the community to explore and appreciate the rich history and cultural significance of our built environment,” ​AIA Tampa Bay President Jonathan Moore said in a statement.
