Foxtail Coffee Co. wants 30 Tampa Bay locations

An Orlando coffee chain has plans to open up to 30 locations in the Tampa Bay market over the next five years.

Foxtail Coffee Co., which will open in Carrollwood on May 27 and in Temple Terrace on June 27, is expanding across Florida and Georgia. It has 17 locations under construction and 34 in the planning stage.

The company's first location in the Tampa Bay region is on Fourth Street North. The company said it will open locations in both strip centers and neighborhood storefronts. Its newer stores range from 1,400 to 1,800 square feet with patio seating, though it has the flexibility to build stores as small as 1,000 square feet and as large as 2,500 square feet. Startup costs for a new location range from $350,000 to $700,000, including franchise fees and expenses.

The ability to add a drive-thru to a location is a plus, Foxtail said, but not a real estate requirement. The brand prefers first-generation real estate, meaning it's the first tenant to occupy the space.

Foxtail declined to disclose a real estate broker handling its Tampa area expansion, saying only that the company is represented by "by a local independent broker who excels in Central Florida real estate."

The Carrollwood store will open at 10907 N. Dale Mabry Highway; the Temple Terrace store will open at 7021 E. Fletcher Ave. Both are dual-concept stores and will serve Foxtail coffee, tea and food alongside Kelly's Ice Cream.
