Target to open new store in Pasco County

Target Corp. plans to open a new store in Pasco County.

Mishorim Gold, the developer of The Grove at Wesley Chapel, on Wednesday said that a 148,500-square-foot Target would open on 16 acres in the property at the southeast corner of the intersection of Oakley Boulevard and Pink Flamingo Lane. The site is south of Cost Plus World Market.

It will be Wesley Chapel's second Target.

“With all the families moving into Wesley Chapel, it just makes sense to bring in a Target,” Mark Gold, a partner in Mishorim Gold, said in a statement. Gold invested millions more into the renovation of the property. “Target is a household name and the perfect retail partner for our bustling community.”

Construction costs were not disclosed. The development of big-box retail stores is exceedingly rare in a post-Covid, e-commerce-driven world. A 1.4-million-square-foot fulfillment center for Minneapolis-based Target (NYSE: TGT) is under construction in Pasco on 170 acres in the northeast quadrant of Interstate 75 and State Road 52.

Mishorim Gold paid $64 million for The Grove in 2019.
