Long-contested golf course redevelopment in New Tampa finally wins approval

A South Florida homebuilder has emerged victorious from a yearslong battle to redevelop a New Tampa golf course.

At a land-use meeting Tuesday, Hillsborough County Commissioners voted 5-2 to approve Sunrise-based GL Homes' plans to build 251 single-family homes on the 150-acre former Pebble Creek Golf Course in New Tampa. The builder's plans also include five neighborhood parks and the preservation of 25 acres of wetlands.
