Atlanta taco chain to renovate Red Mesa building in downtown St. Pete

An Atlanta-based street taco chain is getting ready to turn Red Mesa Cantina’s former downtown St. Petersburg location into a hospitality destination.

Rreal Tacos will turn the historic building at 128 Third St. S into three concepts: a flagship taco restaurant, a second full-service restaurant and a rooftop bar. The restaurant filed its first permit with the city Monday to renovate the 15,000-square-foot space, which is valued at $500,000.
