Canadian builder to bring 650-home 'active adult' community to Sarasota County

A Canadian homebuilder is planning to deliver hundreds of homes to Sarasota County as part of its 55-and-up communities.

Mattamy Homes filed a permit with the Southwest Florida Water Management District for 255 single-family homes in the master-planned community Wellen Park, at the intersection of West Villages Parkway and Manasota Beach Road. These are phases two, four and five of Brightmore, as the project has been named, encompassing 108 acres of the land's 360-acre site.
