Water Street developer plans 33-story mixed-use tower in second phase

The developer of Water Street Tampa is planning its tallest tower yet: a 33-story mixed-use tower at East Cumberland and South Meridian avenues.

Strategic Property Partners, controlled by Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates' Cascade Investment LLC, has filed plans with the city for the tower, which will expand Water Street north of East Cumberland Avenue. At 26 stories, Edition Tampa is currently the tallest tower in Water Street. The plans are routed for design district review, a type of approval for development in the urban core that is a staff-level decision. It does not require review by Tampa City Council.
