How a South Florida developer is building workforce housing in St. Petersburg

A mixed-use project in St. Petersburg’s Skyway Marina district is readying for a third phase, which is slated to bring more of what its developer calls "missing middle" rents.

SkyTown, a development by Coral Gables-based Altis Cardinal, is transforming the former Ceridian office campus at 3201 34th St. S into a mixed-use district with workforce housing, retail and restaurant uses. The development will bring a total of 2,084 units and 92,000 square feet of retail to the 34-acre site, and those housing units are intended to address the demand for housing in the 80% to 120% of the area median income range, Altis Cardinal principal Frank Guerra said.
