St. Pete Downtown Partnership commissions ULI panel to guide Trop redevelopment strategy

A group of commercial real estate professionals plans to craft a report on the future of Tropicana Field, even as St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch moves forward with choosing a group to redevelop the Trop's 86 acres.

The St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership has commissioned the Urban Land Institute to convene an Advisory Services Panel for the Trop, which Welch wants to rebrand the Historic Gas Plant district. The panel will focus on topics including land uses, development feasibility, governance considerations, historical preservation and implementation sequencing, as well as ensuring a development agreement, if reached, can stand the test of time and political turnover.
