Tampa developer sues city again over stalled 20-story Harbour Island tower

Tampa real estate developer Liberty Hospitality claims the city of Tampa is again thwarting its plans for a development on Harbour Island after a yearslong battle to move a project forward.

Liberty Hospitality sued the city a second time following a recent application for a 20-story mixed-use residential tower that the firm claims city administrators are refusing to process, according to documents filed in Hillsborough County Circuit Court on May 16. The 178-unit mixed-use project is one of several plans Liberty has proposed since 2021. The firm acquired the property in 2016.
