Tampa taps developer for downtown's Army-Navy site

A long-watched property on the northern end of downtown Tampa is one step closer to transforming into a mixed-use development with thousands of residential units.

Tampa-based PMG Affordable, a subsidiary of developer PMG, was selected to redevelop the four properties between North Tampa Street and East Ashley Drive. The properties in the proposal, which are owned by the city and the Community Redevelopment Agency, include the long-watched Army-Navy Surplus Market property. PMG proposed 1,150 residential units — 70% committed to affordable and workforce housing — a 30% increase to the minimum requirement of 800 dwelling units in the city's request for proposals.
