National builder expands to Lakeland

A national homebuilder has entered Lakeland with the acquisition of 130 homesites in a master-planned community.

PulteGroup Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, has acquired finished homesites in the Hawthorne Ranch master-planned community as part of its strategy to continue growing in Polk County. Scott Himelhoch, vice president of land acquisition at PulteGroup, told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that Pulte follows population growth in transportation corridors, and he expects this area to see sustained housing demand.
