Clearwater golf course could become sports and wellness park

A Clearwater-based developer plans to transform a city-owned golf course near the Clearwater Executive Airport into a recreation destination.

Porter Development, in partnership with Sunshine Recreational and Entertainment LLC, filed plans with the city of Clearwater to lease, redevelop, manage and operate the city-owned property called The Landings at 1875 Airport Drive, which is home to a public golf course. The plans include sports fields, a pickleball complex, water attractions and sand volleyball as well as a fitness and wellness center.
