Clearwater's historic North Ward School could be up for RFP in 2026

The city of Clearwater is eyeing redevelopment of the historic North Ward School property near downtown, targeting May 2026 for proposals.

The city purchased the property at 900 N Fort Harrison Ave., which was built in 1915 and closed in 2009, in 2019 for $1.8 million. The city is now considering seeking proposals for a mixed-use development and will spend the next several months marketing the property, navigating the land use and zoning process and defining reuse parameters and goals, Assistant City Manager Alfred Battle Jr. told Clearwater City Council members Monday.
