More than 1,000 apartments to break ground on former Raytheon site

A St. Petersburg property that was previously part of the Raytheon Technologies campus could soon be home to over 1,000 apartments.

The Azalea Gateway Apartments received approval from the Southwest Florida Water Management District on Friday, paving the way for 1,056 apartment units off the Pinellas Trail at 1501 72nd St. N. The multifamily project is slated to be built in three phases, with the first phase consisting of 340 units. Of those, 51 will be dedicated to households earning 50% of the area’s median income and another 51 for those earning up to 120% AMI.
